And, another self portrait from me...

Well, what can I say? I achieved a genuine smile in a self portrait! That would be thanks to Maya strutting back & forth posing for the camera even though the camera wasn't pointed at her. Man, she was hammin' it up! If I hadn't just spent time getting myself decent & setting up the tripod, I would have been thrilled to see her strutting about. (Why won't she do that for me when I DO want to take photos of her?)

Anyway, here's my newest self portrait. I kinda like this one... :-)

Wow, it's great. I think it makes the viewer "feel" happy/spunky by looking at it. I like pictures that evoke emotions. Good job.
And btw, I love the conversions that you have, how did you achieve them??? They're georgous.

Great self portrait ... your dotted headband adds the perfect touch - without it the picture would have felt very different!

I really enjoyed looking at them. You have such great focus and dof on your portraits - is that the 85mm? Oh and I love your self-portrait today; you did a great job with it adn I love the conversion. TFS

Thanks so much, everyone!

cristina4k - The conversion is skeefe's b&w conversion. I really, really love it & use it ALL the time.

Life's Little Pleasures - Thanks so much. I love natural light! With this one, I was standing with my back to a dark room, and there was an outside door wide open on MY right hand side. Though it looks like there is a dark backdrop behind me, it's acually just a dark room. :) I used spot metering for this, and had my 4yo daughter stand in for me where I wanted to be placed. Set up the shot & then used the self timer. Hope that helps some.

Jodi - I do use the 85 1.8 a lot, but I also use the 50 1.8 occassionally. We recently purchased the Tamron 28-75 2.8, as well. But, this particular shot was with the 85. That's probably the one I use the most. I just LOVE depth of field (sometimes I think I may overdo it!)
